Dixie Youth set to begin all-star play this weekend

VILLE PLATTE -- It is that time once again. Time for the best of the best in Dixie Youth baseball to compete on the all-star level and try to find a way to make it all the way to the top of the heap.
This weekend will officially launch the Dixie Youth all-star season and two of the four teams representing Ville Platte will be on display for their respective sub-district tournaments.
Here in Ville Platte, the T-ball All-Stars will host teams in the East Sub-District for a four day affair beginning today at 5:30 p.m. All of those games will be held at the Evangeline Parish Recreational Complex on Lithcote Road.
Their are five teams represented in the tournament and each team will play the other four teams twice throughout the weekend.
Ville Platte begins play today at 5:30 p.m. against Mamou. The boys in blue will then play twice tomorrow, at 5:30 p.m. against Vernon National and at 7 p.m. against Pine Prairie.
They will then return to action on Saturday as they face Oakdale at 10 a.m., Vernon National at 1:30 p.m., and Mamou at 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, Ville Platte will play Pine Prairie at 1:30 p.m. and Oakdale at 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, in Oberlin, the Pitching Machine All-Stars will look to take home the trophy. Ville Platte starts play tomorrow at 7 p.m. against Mamou.
On Saturday, the All-Stars will face Vernon National at 10 a.m. and return to take on Pine Prairie at 4 p.m.
Sunday, Ville Platte has Oakdale at 2:30 p.m. and Oberlin at 4 p.m.
As far as the Dixie Minors (10 yr. olds) are concerned, their all-star season will officially start June 15 in Oakdale with sub-district play. The Dixie Majors (12 yr. olds) head to Pine Prairie that same weekend for their sub-district.
District competition for T-Ball will start June 21 in DeQuincy, while Machine Pitch will travel to Mamou for district play beginning that same day.
On June 28, the Major and Minors will begin district play, with the Majors travelling to Vernon Parish and the Minors host ing their district tournament.
State Tournaments for T-Ball and Pitching Machine start July 5. T-Ball will have to travel to Tioga while Pitching Machine would need to travel to Jackson Parish for state competition.
Dixie Majors and Minors will begin regional play on July 13. As usual their will be two tournament sites for that round of play, Concordia Parish and Shreveport. And, once again the best two-out-of-three series for the state title will be held in Alexandria July 20-21.
The T-Ball World Series will be held July 20-23 in Center, Texas while the Pitching Machine World Series takes place in Lumberton, North Carolina from July 20-23.
Lumberton will also host the Dixie Majors and Minors World Series. That tournament begins August 3rd and lasts until the 9th.
