It will be a baseball filled weekend for the Ville Platte Dixie Youth organization as three of their teams will be competing for the chance to bring home a state title beginning today.
The quest for the ultimate prize in the state and an opportunity to advance on the World Series starts today for the 8U Coach Pitch, 7U Coach Pitch and 6U T-Ball All-Stars.
All three teams will participate in a pool play format to open up the tournament and will then be seeded in a double elimination tournament from the results of pool play.
The 8U All-Stars, District 7 Runners-up, will begin their tournament action today at 7:30 p.m. in Ruston. Their first opponent will be the fourth place team out of District 4, Shreveport American. The All-Stars continue pool play tomorrow with a game against the third place team out of District 5, Concordia. That game takes place at 11:30 a.m.

The 7U All-Stars, District 7 Champions head to Shreveport for their state tournament and will face their first test in pool play today at 3:30 p.m. against Sabine American. Ville Platte returns to pool play tomorrow with a 12 noon game against Shreveport American.

Turning to the 6U All-Stars, their tournament begins today as well. The first pool game for Ville Platte, the District 7 Champion, will be at 6:15 p.m. against the host team Shreveport.
The All-Stars continue pool play tomorrow with a 10:15 a.m. contest against the District 8 Runners-up. A 2:15 p.m. game versus the District 5 third place team will conclude pool play for Ville Platte.
The All-Stars start bracket play Saturday and will hopefully be there at the end on Sunday for the championship game.
