Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 7, for Erven Bourque, who served more than 35 years in law enforcement for the Ville Platte Police Department and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office. Burial followed at the Old Ville Platte Cemetery.

For the first time in the rich history of Ville Platte Dixie Youth Baseball, the 7U Coach Pitch All-Stars have won the state championship. The team took home the hardware after a 10-0 win over Minden in the state tournament held in Tioga. Coverage of the tournament can be found on Page 5.

Mamou Super 10s place in regionals

The Mamou Super 10 All-Stars won the District 7 tournament, which was played in Leesville from June 20 to June 23. The team then competed in the North Regional Tournament and came out in third place. That tournament was held in Alexandria from July 5 to July 8.
