Special Olympics is held

Special Olympics returned to the Evangeline Parish School District on Wednesday, October 27, with students competing in bowling. The first round of events was held at Ville Platte High School for students in grades 6 though 8. The event will include corn hole later in the winter and track and field in the spring. It will also open up to high school students during the 2022-2023 school year and Pre-K to 5th grade students in the 2023-2024 school year. Team winners in the bowling competition were Bayou Chicot Elementary- 1st, Ville Platte High School- 2nd, and Vidrine Elementary- 3rd. Individual winners were 1st place Montashia Attle, Mamou High School; 2nd place Malik Charles, Vidrine Elementary; and 3rd place Scott Nelson, Bayou Chicot Elementary.
