The annual Tournoi Pageant was held Saturday evening, August 24, at the Northside Civic Center in Ville Platte. Winners and runners-up were announced as follows:
Junior Tournoi Queen: Caydance Marie Childers, the 13-year-old daughter of Jennifer Brooke Vidrine of Washington, was named Junior Tournoi Queen. She is currently a seventh grade student at Plaisance Middle School, where she is active in the 4-H Club and band. She has won reserve champion with her goat, Sammantha, at the District Livestock Show and has received awards for cheer and band. She enjoys being around her friends and family, shopping at boutiques and listening to her favorite music. Childers has also volunteered at Vacation Bible School during the summer. Her future plans include attending cosmetology school and opening her own beauty shop.
Teen Tournoi Queen: Chloe Brook Childers, the 16-year-old daughter of Jennifer Brooke Vidrine of Washington, of was announced as Teen Tournoi Queen. She is a junior at Northwest High School and enrolled at LSU-Eunice, with a major in agriscience. Childers is actively involved in Beta, FFA, 4-H junior leaders, JROTC and Honors English Club, as well as a member of the student council and tennis team. She enjoys shopping with her friends, spending time on the farm with her family. She has volunteered with her church numerous times and assisted with auctions benefiting cancer patients. Her future plans include graduating from LSUE with her associate degree in agriscience and then continue her education at McNeese State University.
Landri Kate Young, the 14-year-old daughter of Glen and Nichole Young of Eunice, was named first runner-up to the new Teen Queen.
Louisiana Tournoi Queen: Skyla Fontenot, the 17-year-old daughter of Shawn and Samantha Fontenot of Ville Platte, was crowned Louisiana Tournoi Queen. A senior at Pine Prairie High School, she has been a member of the PPHS cheer team for four years and currently serves as captain. She is also a member of FBLA and has been dancing for 16 years. She currently attends Just Dance in Alexandria. Her hobbies include dancing, cheering, shopping and spending time with her friends and family. Fontenot also enjoys cheering at the Friday night games and bringing her little cousins to library events. She is a 2021 SCA dance champion, All-American Cheer recipient for two years and maintains an honor roll GPA. Fontenot is also a certified Microsoft Word Specialist and emergency medical responder.
Claire Elizabeth Durapau, the 21-year-old daughter of Keith and Monica Durapau of Eunice, was chosen as first runner-up to the new Louisiana Tournoi Queen.
Ms. Tournoi Queen:
Alexis Ikerd, the 24-year-old daughter of Dustin Ikerd and Roxie and Harry Colley of Marksville, was selected as Ms. Tournoi Queen. She is currently employed as a daycare teacher while pursing a degree in psychology online. She enjoys hunting, fishing, journaling, baking and reading. She is a member of the Avoyelles Arts Council, Friends of the Alexandria Zoo, Avoyelles Animal Welfare Society, PETA and Autism Society of America. She is a snake handler at the Alexandria Zoo and volunteers at a local animal shelter. Ikerd’s future plans include continuing to volunteer with animals in the community and obtaining a degree in psychology to help make a difference in the mental health field.
