LPB TO STREAM THE 2023 LOUISIANA SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY STATEWIDE

You can be a part of Louisiana sports history! Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB), in partnership with the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, will live stream the 2023 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Saturday, July 29 at 7:00pm. Viewers can watch Louisiana sports icons Eli Manning, Paul Mainieri, Alana Beard, and many others as they are inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame during a live stream ceremony on LPB’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/LPBTV and also at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame website at www.lasportshall.com.

For sports fans looking for more, LPB will present highlights from the ceremony and a behind-the- scenes look with an upcoming LPB two-hour special, Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame: 2023 Celebration, Tuesday, August 15 at 7:00pm. “The people of Louisiana love their sports and LPB is excited to bring our audience something new,” says Jason Viso, LPB Director of Programming. “You’ll see and hear from Louisiana icons from the worlds of football, baseball, basketball, track and field, and weightlifting - athletes who have helped put Louisiana on the sports map.”

Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning joins four-time WNBA All-Star Alana Beard and College World Series champion LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri in the star-studded 10-member group of honorees chosen for induction into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

The LSHOF Class of 2023 also includes New Orleans native Ron Washington, who managed the Texas Rangers to a pair of World Series appearances and helped the Atlanta Braves win the world’s championship; two-time LSU track and field USA Olympian and world champion Walter Davis; and Slidell native, Tulane great and Chicago Bears two-time Pro Bowl running back Matt Forte.

Also elected for induction are All-American LSU pitcher Paul Byrd, a 14-year Major League Baseball veteran who made the 1999 All-Star Game; Shreveport native Wendell Davis, who shattered LSU football receiving records before heading to the NFL; multiple national champion and world class weightlifter Walter Imahara, a UL-Lafayette legend; and retired Baton Rouge-Parkview Baptist baseball coach M.L. Woodruff, whose teams claimed 11 state championships.
