The Acosta Foundation receives major donation to expand charitable and philanthropic outreach

VILLE PLATTE– It is with great honor that The Acosta Foundation (the Foundation) announces it has been chosen as the recipient of a large donation that will benefit the entire community.  The purpose of the Foundation is to foster and promote charitable events and generate funds to benefit various organizations and disadvantaged individuals.
Each board member annually champions a specific cause to benefit the non-profit organization of their choice. Charitable programs are also hosted to assist with disaster relief and other emergency needs.
In late 2022, Dr. Charles (Chuck) Aswell III made the selfless decision to donate his family home in Ville Platte to The Acosta Foundation.  This generous gift allows the non-profit foundation to have a spacious headquarters from which to continue its outreach efforts and some of the community focused activities he was involved in at his home for so many years. The property will also help The Acosta Foundation expand its charitable and philanthropic activities throughout the parish and expand the scope of the Foundation’s purpose. For example, the home will now also be used to benefit the community through training, educational, and workforce development programs that will be offered through The Acosta Foundation.
“Dr. Chuck Aswell is continuing his legacy of giving back to the community,” said Connie Acosta Lamke, president and founder of The Acosta Foundation. “Our goal is to continue the Aswell tradition of hosting events that Dr. Aswell cherished, including activities for the Cotton Festival’s visiting queens and other royalty, and opening his home to the annual Tee Cotton Bowl celebrations. These are just a couple of the events that Dr. Chuck has so graciously welcomed for many years.”
Construction of the Aswell House began in 1956 and concluded in 1957 with Dr. Charles and Mrs. Lura Jane Aswell residing in their new home and beginning a legacy that would continue for decades. Later, it would become the home of their son, Dr. Chuck Aswell, where he raised his family.  Lamke said, “For over 65 years, the Aswell House has been a landmark in the city of Ville Platte, and we are honored to have been chosen to be stewards of such an amazing part of local history.”
