Heritage Manor News: October events

(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
When you think of October, the images that instantly come to mind are typically ghosts, goblins and a family trip to the pumpkin patch. Of course, Halloween is on everybody’s mind. Many households enjoy decorating and getting costumes together for enhancing the celebration.
Today is National Boss’ Day and National Sports Day. Throughout the year, music, food, history and holidays inspire more than 400 Louisiana festivals and events of all sizes across the state, many of them being local or a very short distance from here. We are blessed to have the Cotton Festival in Ville Platte. Many of our residents enjoy the heritage and culture shared at this time.
