Ville Platte hosts Super 10 state tournament

The Ville Platte/Evangeline Parish Recreational Complex hosted the Louisiana Dixie Youth Super 10 State Tournament on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23. From Jefferson Parish came Lakeshore, the winner of the south regional. From the home of recent Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Inductee Kyle Williams came Ruston, the winner of the north regional. Lakeshore defeated Ville Platte in the finals to win its regional, and Ruston defeated Pontiff on a walk-off to win its regional. The all-stars from Ruston took Game 1 of the best-of-three state tournament Friday night, 3-1. Lakeshore, then, came back and won Game 2, 7-1, on Saturday morning to force a deciding Game 3. In the winner take all game that featured a rain delay, Ruston blanked Lakeshore 6-0 to win the state title and advance to the World Series in Lumberton, N.C., which begins Friday, August 5.
