Several Ville Platte Rotarians share how they are faring while under quarantine

For the first time in many Americans’ lives, they are living under quarantine. One aspect of the quarantine is many civic organizations, like the Rotary Club of Ville Platte, are unable to gather together for their meetings to share what is going on in their lives.
In light of that, several of these Ville Platte Rotarians recently shared with the Ville Platte Gazette how they are faring under quarantine. The following is a rundown of their responses.

I have been in lock down at my office for four weeks now. Unfortunately, some legal matters must go on, whether it’s deadlines or emergency health issues. My staff is here, but we keep our distances as recommended. Fortunately, the judges are available for the emergency matters and the required criminal matters. All other matters were continued, but hopefully not too very long.
My personal issue is with the people who are ignoring the mandated distancing and restrictions. I am not concerned about their health, but very concerned about their spreading the virus to others that I do care about. Such acts are very selfish!
May God watch over all Rotarians, our families, friends, and the good people of our city, parish, state, and country and keep us healthy during these trying times.

Becky and I are doing okay. We’re trying to stay busy and are spending more time at our camp.

Besides trying to work normally, Vic (Slaven) and I have been advising, preparing, and helping clients apply for the government approved SBA loans to assist in their business operations during the pandemic. On top of that, we try to answer many questions concerning the stimulus checks.
We only thought we were busy during regular tax season. Now, with an extended deadline of July 15, and the regular extensions through October, this 2020 tax season will never end!

John and I have adjusted pretty well. I am doing all my own housework, which keeps me busy if not exactly amused. John works mostly from home, reading cases, and talking on the phone. That is the biggest blessing for me. It’s wonderful to have him right at hand. We have watched all the LSU football games on DVD over the course of two weeks!
I lost two pounds because I have to eat my own cooking! I miss Mass most of all, but I watch it every day online. My hair is long and looks like it’s having a party.
I really miss my Rotary friends and our Rotary ways. For Rotarians, it’s hard that we can’t really do anything to help in this situation. We are a service club with no way to serve. Still, mustn’t grumble!

The Brian Ardoin Family is doing well. Our driving business has been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19, but we continue to support our employees in the best way that we can. As we quarantine for the safety for our loved ones, friends, and community, we have used this opportunity to tend to negligently home chores, much needed quality family time, and the opportunity to conduct isolated community services.
My family and I have assisted the elderly with yard work and worked at Ville Platte Elementary School installing an outdoors basketball court.
Of course, as educators and Rotarians, we have ensured our children maintains their willingness to learn. The mild community service that we conduct is in keeping with the Lord and Jesus Christ and my Rotarian values. We are blessed to have our family, our health, and our friends our these trying times.
