EPSO ends 2021 and begins 2022 with drug arrests

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Departments Narcotic Division, on December 30, 2021, conducted a traffic stop on a car on Hwy 167 North. While speaking to the driver of the car, she admitted to having narcotics hidden on her. She then turned over the narcotics and gave consent to search the car.

State AG office investigates complaint

The state’s attorney general’s office is investigating a complaint from Arthur Sampson over alleged open meeting violations of the Evangeline Parish School Board. The attorney general’s office has sent a copy of the open meetings law to the school board and asked for a response.

Hattie Perkins Fontenot Pouncey, a native of Huntsville, Tennessee, and resident of Ville Platte since the 1940s, recently celebrated her milestone 100th birthday. She was one of 12 children born to Thomas Williams Perkins and Emma Stykes Perkins.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 11:23 p.m. on December 31, 2021, received a call of a wreck on Morning Glory Road, in the Basile area. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a two-vehicle wreck, north of the train tracks involving a Toyota Camry and a GMC Yukon.
