VILLE PLATTE - After being the only candidate to qualify in the special election, the honorable Gary Ortego took the oath office on Thursday, March 3, to replace the late John Saunders on the Third Circuit Court of Appeal District Three.

Prior to the start of the Evangeline Parish Police Jury held Monday, March 7, members of the public were given an opportunity to speak about the two tax propositions that will on the ballot for the March 26 election.

The new Ville Platte city council districts are shown above. District A (Faye Lemoine) is shown in pink, District B (Jerry Joseph) is shown in yellow, District C (Mike Perron) is shown in blue, District D (Jordan Anderson) is shown in silver, District E (Christina Sam) is shown in purple, and District F (Bryant Riggs) is shown in green. The new district lines are in place for the election which will be held on Tuesday, November 8.

During the March 8 meeting of the Ville Platte City Council, Mayor Jennifer Vidrine announced repair work will begin on 25 streets in the next two or three weeks.
