Chataignier plans Easter Eggstravaganza

By: TONY MARKS Editor Chataignier Mayor Justin Darbonne reported the village is planning another Easter Eggstravaganza to be held at the Gula Miller Park on Saturday, April 2, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. There will be free admission, and hot dogs, chips, juice, and Cokes will be available for purchase.

EPSO Arrests

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Maya Suzanne Deshotel, 42, Mamou, was arrested March 23, 2022, by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for two counts of failure to appear for court.

DUI checkpoints are set to be in place

Staff Report The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department, along with other law enforcement agencies, will be working an upcoming “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to combat impaired driving.

Election Notice

The election for two tax rededication propositions is Saturday, March 26, at all 56 precincts across Evangeline Parish. Because of the election, the Sunday, March 27, edition of the Ville Platte Gazette will be not be printed until all precincts have reported. As a result, delivery will be delayed.

VILLE PLATTE - A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Diana Manuel Fontenot at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Diana Manuel Fontenot, 73, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Father Andrew Killeen celebrated the Mass.

Ethel Marie Latunski, age 79 of Perry, Michigan, went home to be with her savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Nelson-House Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
