The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Taylor Brooke Gautreaux, 28, Ville Platte, was arrested June 19, 2022, by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for disturbing the peace by intoxication.

On Father’s Day Sunday, a couple was traveling through our area on their way back home to Arizona from Florida with their two young grandchildren when they experienced a mechanical failure on their vehicle leaving them stranded in Ville Platte.

Food distribution is again set in Chataignier

By: TONY MARKS Editor Last month, the Village of Chataignier distributed Second Harvest food boxes to 209 households. This month, again on Saturday, June 25, additional food boxes will be distributed from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Sandra Marie Berzas Doxey, age 74, who loved to be called “Nana” by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. A Mass in her honor will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
