EPSB approves modified calendar

The full Evangeline Parish School Board approved a modified school calendar with staggered five-day weeks. Full coverage will be in the Sunday, June 18, edition of the Ville Platte Gazette.

School schedule clears first hurdle

With a 3-1 vote, the EPSB executive committee voted to start the school year with a five-day schedule for the first nine weeks. After the first nine weeks, the schedule will shift to four days. The full board will take up the matter at a special meeting tomorrow, June 14, at 6 p.m.

Despite reactions, EPSB moves forward with four-day week

By: TONY MARKS Editor Nick Chaumont, Evangeline Parish School Board member from District 2, addressed concerns over the four-day week that was approved at the previous meeting. During the board’s meeting held Wednesday, June 7, Chaumont said his district is currently divided over the issue.

In Ville Platte, you can study close to where you live and work. SLCC’s C.B. Coreil Campus offers both hands-on training programs as well as associate degree programs. SLCC is now enrolling for fall in a variety of programs including Welding and Medical Assistant.

Rebridging the gap

By: TONY MARKS Editor Freddie Dunn Street, in Ville Platte, is getting a new bridge installed near where it intersects with Main Street. Evangeline Parish Police Juror Daniel Arvie, who represents District 9, explained he has been working on the bridge project for the past several years.
