Body is found in a Ville Platte ditch

Ville Platte Police are investigating a possible homicide after a body was found in a ditch off of Edward Knotoe Thomas Jr. Street. The body was found on the evening of Monday, August 14.

Assistant principal at ERA is fired

After accusations of sexual misconduct with a student surfaced, Patrick Guillory has been fired as assistant principal of Evangeline Reimagine Academy. Guillory has previously served as assistant principal of Pine Prairie High School.

After the qualifying period for the October elections ended last Thursday, several Evangeline Parish officials were unopposed and will be re-elected for another term in office.

A dream of Pine Prairie Mayor Quint West finally came to fruition after an agreement was signed where the Johnson family donated 10 acres to the village for a park. The agreement was signed on Thursday, August 10, following the meeting of the Village Council.
