Shooting injures two

Chief A. Perry Thomas reports there was a shooting on Sunday, February 22, 2026, after 3:00 p.m. at the South Soileau Apartments in Ville Platte. Two Black male victims, ages 30 and 33, sustained gunshot wounds. One victim was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

On February 18, 2026, Quincy L. Thibodeaux was arrested in connection with the homicide of Allen Thomas. Thibodeaux has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder, one count of Obstruction of Justice, and one count of Tampering with a Witness.

Police make arrest in armed robbery

Ville Platte Chief of Police A. Perry Thomas reports an update to the armed robbery which occurred at the Ville Platte Dollar General on Tate Cove Road earlier this month when a person wearing a clown mask entered the store, brandishing a firearm, and escaped with around $1,000 cash.

EVANGELINE PARISH – Authorities have arrested a Turkey Creek man following an investigation into a deliberately set house fire that destroyed a Mamou home earlier this year. Fire crews with the Mamou Fire Department were dispatched around 3:12 p.m.
