CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline Inc. and St. Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center (SLESAC) held its 13th Annual Crime and Abuse Prevention Awareness Ride at the Evangeline Parish Courthouse on Saturday, April 25, in partnership with the City of Ville Platte. The event was designed to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month and National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. During the event, Ville Platte Mayor Ryan LeDay Williams proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the city. In the proclamation, Mayor Williams (pictured above) urged all residents to work towards improving victims’ safety and holding perpetrators of domestic and sexual violence accountable for their actions against individuals and our society as a whole.
