By: HARLAN KIRGAN Louisiana State Newspapers BATON ROUGE — A weather-driven change in inauguration plans moving the inauguration of Republican Jeff Landry as 57th governor of Louisiana from Monday to Sunday suggests the direction of his administration.

Police jury takes oath of office; secretary-treasurer announces retirement

By: HEATHER BOGARD Associate Editor Secretary-Treasurer Chester Granger, during the first meeting of the newly-installed Evangeline Parish Police Jury held January 9, surprisingly announced his plans to retire around mid-February of this year.

Third annual SH powerlifting invitational is held

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - Area schools competed in the third annual Sacred Heart Invitational, held Saturday, January 8. In the boys competition, the host Trojans claimed the first place trophy with 47 points.
