Council approves water project resolution

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Ville Platte City Council, during a special meeting held Monday, February 26, approved a resolution to apply for funds through the 2024 Community Water Enrichment Fund Grant Program. As Mayor Ryan LeDay Williams explained, the grant is for up to $50 thousand.

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Evangeline Parish School District celebrated some of its best and brightest during the annual Student of the Year Banquet held Thursday, February 22, at the Ville Platte Civic Center. The district’s 12th grade student of the year is Daisy Berzas, of Basile High School.

In-lieu tax proposition to be on April ballot

By: TONY MARKS Editor Following the merger of the Ward 5 Fire Protection District and the Lone Pine Fire District, the boundaries were changed to include the entire area. However, the funding mechanisms remained separate. As a result, an in-lieu tax proposal will be on the April 27 ballot.
