By: DR. BRIAN DORE’ Member of the Ville Platte Ministerial Alliance There are many people in the older community who are worried about what they are seeing taking place around them. The evening news is filled with reports of crime, violence, war, protests and generally unruliness and chaos.

Ville Platte Rotary: KVPI staff shares love of station/work

By: HEATHER BOGARD Associate Editor Rotarian Kristi Enicke welcomed KVPI General Manager Mark Layne as the guest speaker for the May 14, meeting of the Ville Platte Rotary Club. Layne in turn invited several of his staff members to speak about their experience working at the radio station.

Due debris on some roadways and no electricity in several parts of the parish, all Evangeline Parish Schools & District Offices will be closed today (5-17-2024). Decisions about high school graduation ceremonies at Basile & Mamou will be made later today, when we can re-assess conditions.

Victim is taken to hospital

A victim, who was shot three times, was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. No information as to extent of the injuries were known as of press time. According to reports, the incident occurred near the intersection of Hickory Street and Chataignier Road on the afternoon of Monday, May 13.

ST. LANDRY - Albert “Butch” Francis Castete, age 76, of Saint Landry, passed away at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
