Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, for Mr. Maurice Williams, 90, who entered eternal rest, Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Savoy Care Center in Mamou. Interment will be in Ninth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, in Ville Platte.

Police jury unleashes tax proposal on November ballot

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Evangeline Parish Police Jury, during a special meeting held Tuesday, June 11, voted 6-1 to place a tax proposal on the November ballot. The proposal would levy a special tax of one mill on all property subject to taxation within the boundaries of the parish.
