MPD seeks suspect in attempted second degree murder

On March 20, around 10 p.m., a drive-by shooting took place near the 600 block of 7th street, by JD Bank, in Mamou. A brown Buick, occupied by four individuals, drove past teenagers walking home. Two of the teenagers were under the age of 14.

Fontenot is elected president of Louisiana Farm Bureau

By: AVERY DAVIDSON and VERONICA MOSGROVE Louisiana Farm Bureau NEW ORLEANS — Richard Fontenot, a fourth-generation rice, soybean and crawfish farmer from Ville Platte, will serve as the 13th president of Louisiana Farm Bureau.

EPPJ hears audit report

By: HEATHER BOGARD Associate Editor Casey Ardoin presented the Evangeline Parish Police Jury’s 2023-2024 audit review during the board’s July 1, meeting. He stated the jury had a very good year, noting the general fund has grown to $7,834,000, which is twice what the revenues were projected to be.

Fire destroys home in Bayou Chicot

Firefighters from the Ward 5 Fire Department and other law enforcement personnel responded to a fire, on Monday, July 2, at a home belonging to James Forman, in Bayou Chicot. As of press time, on Wednesday, the cause of the fire was unknown, but it was believed to be an electrical fire.
