Qualifying dates are set for Nov. election

Qualifying for the election held November 3 will begin Wednesday, July 22, at the Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court Office and will continue through Friday, July 24.
Candidates seeking to run for the following local offices will qualify at that time: District Judge 13th Judicial District Court, Division A; District Judge 13th Judicial District Court, Division B; District Attorney 13th Judicial District Court; City Judge City Court, City of Ville Platte; City Marshal City Court, City of Ville Platte; Member of School Board District 2; Justices of the Peace, Ward 2; Justice of the Peace, Ward 3; Justice of the Peace, Ward 4; Justice of the Peace, Ward 5; Constable, Ward 2; Constable, Ward 3; Constable, Ward 4; Constable, Ward 5; Mayor of Village of Pine Prairie, Chief of Police of Village of Pine Prairie; Alderman District 2, Town of Basile; and Aldermen of Village of Pine Prairie.
Also on the ballot for the November election are U.S. President, U.S. Senator, and U.S. Representative 4th Congressional District.
The Ville Platte Gazette will publish free announcements for candidates in the November 3, 2020, election.
The announcements are biographical only and limited to the first 400 words free. They will contain no campaign promises, pledges, or references to other candidates. That material should be included in paid political advertising.
The announcements are used on a first-come basis, and publication date depends on space available.
A photo of the candidate is used if provided.
Announcements are due by October 18, 2020.
