Month long investigation in Mamou leads to multiple arrests

The Mamou Police Department has made several arrests as of Monday, March 1 due to a month long investigation called “Operation March Madness.”
Because of tips received from concerned residents, police began a full investigation by following up on leads and other suspicious activities taking place at various locations around the Town of Mamou.
Once enough information was collected to be able to apply for a search warrant, it was obtained for the residence of 812 Redwood Street and was successfully executed resulting in the apprehension of several individuals along with the seizure of drugs, paraphernalia, guns, ammunition, and electronic devices.
Listed are the individuals arrested and facing multiple drug and weapon charges.
Damian Duplechain, of Mamou, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of crystal meth, and possession of narcotics in a drug free zone.
Manny Marcantel, of Mamou, was charged with possession of schedule I marijuana, possession of schedule II crystal meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm while in possession of CDS, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of narcotics in the presence of a juvenile, possession of narcotics in a drug free zone, and possession of narcotics in a jail facility.
Kristie Venable, of Opelousas, was charged with possession of crystal meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of narcotics in a drug free zone.
Texster Ritter, of Mamou, was charged with possession of crystal meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics in a drug free zone, and possession of narcotics in the presence of a juvenile.
Jessica Lejeune, of Mamou, was charged with three counts of resisting an officer, three counts of battery on an officer, and simple criminal damage to property.
All subjects are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
More arrests are likely as “March Madness” continues.
