Minister’s Corner: The source of our strength

When you choose to follow Jesus, when you invite Him into your life and accept Him as your Lord and Savior, you are not merely aligning yourself with a good teacher, nor are you merely choosing to adopt a certain belief system as your own. When you choose to follow Christ, you are connecting with the God of the universe, the Creator of all that exists, the One with more authority and power than any other in Heaven or on earth. That’s who Jesus is! Paul, speaking about Jesus in Colossians 1:15-16 KJV said, “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in Heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”
Paul is saying, “Jesus is supreme. He is above all. Above Him there is no other.” He has ultimate power in the universe, and He is willing to share His power with us - to give us strength to live day to day. Jesus Christ is your source of strength. This mean you don’t have to tackle life with your own limited abilities and power; Jesus makes His unlimited power available to you. In the book of Ephesians 3:20-21 KJV, Paul says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Do you know what that means? It means with Jesus in your life you cannot lose. And, I want you to know the opposite is also true. Without Him in your life, you cannot win.
The amazing thing about all of this is the One who created the universe and set the sun, moon, and stars into motion is willing to be a part of your life and give you strength to face the challenges and trials of day to day life. Psalm 18:32 KJV says, “It is God that girdith me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.” This is what Jesus can do for you. He can give you an advantage in life you would not have otherwise. He can be your source of strength.
