An Evangeline Parish couple has been arrested after an investigation conducted by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office. According to deputies, 57-year-old Deborah Blake was arrested on June 16, and 57-year-old Eddie Holsomback was arrested on June 21 and each booked on one count of arson with intent to defraud and criminal conspiracy. They were booked into the Evangeline Parish jail.
The investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office concerned a truck fire that took place on March 13 in the 17000 block of Hwy 167 N. in Clearwater. During the investigation, the fire marshal’s office discovered the fire was intentionally set in multiple areas of the truck. The truck had been reported stolen three days before the fire. Evidence from the investigation led deputies to suspect Blake and Holsomback, the latter of whom is a relative of the truck’s owner.
When the suspects were being interviewed by investigators, deputies say the couple allegedly admitted to the crime. Holsomback and Blake were then arrested and booked. Bond for each suspect was set at $25,000.00. Holsomback and Blake currently remain incarcerated.
