Early voting numbers in Evangeline Parish eclipse 1,300

Early voting began Saturday, September 28, for the Gubernatorial Primary Election set for Saturday, October 12. On that first day of voting, 488 voters from Evangeline Parish cast their ballot at the Registrar of Voters office located inside the Courthouse.
The numbers dipped a bit this week but still remained over the 400-voter plateau. On Monday, there were 449 early votes, and there were 424 early votes on Tuesday bringing the total to 1,361.
Of that number, 935 were from Ward 1, 31 were from Ward 2, 210 were from Ward 3, 108 were from Ward 4, and 77 were from Ward 5.
Parish residents are voting on a variety of statewide and parishwide races including governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, treasurer, commissioner of agriculture and forestry, commissioner of insurance, BESE District 5, BESE District 8, state senate District 28, state representative District 38, sheriff, assessor, police juror, along with four constitutional provisions.
Early voting continues through Saturday, October 5, at the Registrar of Voters office from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
