Nine hundred thirty-two residents of Evangeline Parish cast their early votes for the election slated for this Saturday. Of those casting early votes, 906 were from Ward I.
Voters in Ward I are voting for a runoff election between Nicole Latour Snoddy and Horace Johnson for city marshal. Johnson was elected in the special election held this summer to finish the unexpired term of the late Ronald T. Doucet. Snoddy, meanwhile, was the top vote getter in last month’s regular primary election.
Also on the ballot in Ward I, as well as parish wide, is a proposed constitutional amendment to allow out-of-state residents to serve on a public postsecondary board of supervisors.
Voters in the Basile area will additionally be voting on a Acadia-Evangeline Fire Protection District 1.03 mill renewal.
Because of press deadlines, the election results will be in the Thursday, December 10, edition of the Ville Platte Gazette
