Sitting Evangeline Parish Police Juror for District 5, Kevin Veillon, announced his candidacy for re-election.
“I, Kevin Veillon, am announcing my candidacy for re-election to Evangeline Parish Police Juror District 5,” Veillon said in his announcement. “I’ve served in that capacity for the past two terms (eight years). I am employed as Manager of City Refrigeration & Ice Co., a local family owned business for more than 25 years. I am married to Ashley Morein Veillon, together we have six children, Taylor, Torian, Sydney, Brianna, Ava and Kali. My parents are Randy Veillon and Patricia “Pat” Fontenot Veillon.”
Veillon’s announcement continued as follows: “As your police juror for District 5, I have worked hard and diligently to ensure improvements to our district as well as Evangeline Parish as a whole. I have served as chairman of the Evangeline Parish Police Jury Personnel Committee as well as chairman of the Evangeline Parish Police Jury Machinery and Equipment Committee. Some of my accomplishments include:
1) Micro-surfacing, preservation overlays and/or soil-cementing every paved road in District 5 as preventative maintenance;
2) Purchasing updated machinery and equipment to complete big and small digging and dredging projects and better maintain our district.
3) Implemented a Roadside Vegetation Management program, spraying three times per year, keeping our infrastructure and right-of-way areas accessible and safe.
4) Assisted in securing millions of dollars in grants and bonds for sewer improvements, bridge and road improvements, economic development, recreational funding, hazard mitigation, and again, the purchase of new and updated machinery and equipment.”
“During my tenure, the Evangeline Parish Police Jury has maintained financial stability and compliance, our financial audits being rated by our auditor as some of the best in Evangeline Parish history.”
“I have always, and continue to enjoy my involvement in youth, elderly and other non-profit community-based programs. I serve, and have served, as a Board Member for Village De Memoire; a committee member of the Evangeline Parish Recreation District; president, vice president and head coach of Ville Platte Dixie Youth Baseball; and I have been honored as a nominee for Ville Platte Man of the Year. I am a Christian and a Family Man, I am pro-life, and a 2nd Amendment supporter.”
“I promise to represent the people of District 5 with honesty and integrity, my word is my word.” Please allow me this opportunity to ask for your support and prayers as I seek re-election this October 12th. You may contact me at 337-523-4457 with any questions or concerns. Thank you and may God bless our great community!”
