For the second time in less than a week, and the third time in two weeks, Mamou High School received a threat of violence. This time, the police have a student in custody.
According to the Mamou Police Department, on Tuesday, the school received a note saying someone was “going to shoot up the school.” Mamou High was then placed on lockdown. The note was turned over to the police. After investigating, the police, working with the school, discovered the note belonged to a 13-year-old girl. The girl allegedly confessed to her parents what she had done, and she now faces expulsion from the school and criminal charges.
The police are continuing to monitor the campus, and investigations into the other two threats are ongoing.
The earlier threat came last Friday on September 27 when the school was again placed on lockdown after a suspicious note was found.
At that time, the student body was evacuated to the high school football field.
