Chief provides update on shootings

In less than 24-hours, two separate shootings occurred on the north side of town during the Mardi Gras celebrations, according to the Mamou Police Department. Three people received non life threatening injuries on Monday, March 3. On Tuesday, March 4, 12 people suffered injuries due to gun fire. Two victims have succumbed to their injuries, and two more are in critical condition.
The Mamou police are receiving assistance in their investigation from State Police and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office. This is still an active investigation. Chief Hall encourages everyone with information to contact the Mamou Police Department. Remember all callers remain anonymous.
