January 3, 2002 • Law enforcement authorities reported a quiet New Year’s holiday with no serious occurrences. Ville Platte Police Chief, Romeo Hargrove said the new year came in quietly. No other major occurrences were reported in the parish by other law enforcement agancies.

A relaxing end to 2017

At its last meeting of the year and last meeting held at Main Street Pizza, Ville Platte Rotary President Wayne Vidrine reminded the club about some important dates coming up in the new year.

UL-Lafayette and NSU announce local graduating students

Fall 2017 graduates from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette include the following from Evangeline Parish. Those students are as follows. Baccalaureate Degree: Arts — Kenneth Bourque Deshotel. Business Administration — Kierra G. Bias and Morgan Renee Kreswell. Liberal Arts — Benjamin Fontenot.

Mr. Savant, Miss Kidder plan Jan. 19 nuptials

The engagement of Miss Lauren Danielle Kidder, daughter of Mr. Kevin and Mrs. Christine Kidder of Breaux Bridge to Mr. Garrett Paul Savant, the son of Mr. Peter and Mrs. Jenny Manuel of Ville Platte and Mr. Greg and Mrs. Lisa Savant of Cecelia, has been announced by their parents.
