Minors are arrested in Mamou

On October 15, 2023, starting just after midnight the Mamou Police Department received multiple calls from private citizens and businesses about damage to property along the north side of the town. The complaints involved tire slashing and broken car windows. Officers began investigations the calls and collected video footage of four persons engaged in criminal activity. The four individuals were later identified as minors whose ages range from 11 to 14. The parents of the minors were contacted and the juveniles were arrested without incident. They were charged with multiple counts of criminal damage to property and curfew violations. The cost of the damages is estimated to be at or about 10,000. After processing, the minors were released to into the custody of their parents. This incident is still currently under investigation.
