By: TONY MARKS Editor BASILE - Two teams entered Hanson Field as almost mirror images of each other. The visiting Logansport Tigers began the season losing their first four games against Calvary Baptist, Loyola College Prep, Bossier, and Jonesboro-Hodge.

Sacred Heart falters in quarterfinals against defending state champions

SHREVEPORT -- When a team is better, there isn’t much you can do. Make no mistake, the No. 5-seeded Sacred Heart Trojans never gave up in Friday night’s 63-7 quarterfinal loss to No. 4-seed and defending state champion Calvary Baptist.

Basile moves on with second round win over Delta Charter, hosts Logansport

FERRIDAY -- The hot streak continues, and, if Basile has its way, it will end no time soon. The No. 9-seeded Bearcats won their seventh-straight game Friday night, beating No. 8-seed Delta Charter 26-14 in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs.

Lady Bearcats hold groundbreaking ceremony for softball field

The new Basile High Lady Bearcat softball team held groundbreaking ceremonies for a girls’ softball field complex on Tuesday, November 9, at property located directly behind W.W. Stewart Elementary School.

It’s hard to imagine any team in Evangeline Parish running as hot as the Basile Bearcats are right now at any point during the season. The No. 9-seed opened up its Class 1A playoff run in stryle Friday, defeating No. 24-seeded Magnolia School of Excellence by a 52-14 margin.
