By: TONY MARKS Editor HOUMA - A five-run lead was not enough for the Sacred Heart baseball squad as Covenant Christian went on a merry-go-round ride that produced seven runs on only two singles in the bottom of the fifth inning.

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor SULPHUR – In a storied year for girls’ athletics in Sacred Heart, it’s only fitting that they got to make one more road trip. To make the trip even sweeter, it’s the type of trip the Lady Trojans softball program hasn’t been able to make since 2019.

Red River ends PPHS season

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor COUSHATTA – The 13th-seeded Pine Prairie Panthers baseball team had its season ended in the Regional round of the LHSAA Division III non-select playoffs by the No. 4 Red River Bulldogs in a two-game sweep.

‘Hotter than a pepper sprout’

By: TONY MARKS Editor Jackson Bruney, also known as Bruney, has signed to play baseball with LSUA. He is the son of Candice and Chad Bruney and has been a varsity player for four years at Sacred Heart. “I think it’s going to better me as a person,” Bruney said about signing to play college ball.

By: TONY MARKS Editor RESERVE - A season ago, the Sacred Heart softball team faced Riverside Academy in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs and fell 14-5. Riverside then went on to win its second consecutive state championship.
