Ville Platte High School issued the following statement after its homecoming game was cancelled because of a shooting outside the stadium. What began as a beautiful Homecoming celebration ended in tragedy for so many.

Three people were shot, and one person was killed a gunshots cancelled the homecoming game at Ville Platte High against Church Point. The gunshots came from outside the stadium, about a block away. According to head coach Roy Serie, no word on the status of the game.

Gunshots interrupted the Ville Platte High School homecoming game against Church Point. At the time of the incident, Church Point was leading Ville Platte 14-0 with 9:04 in the second quarter. Game is cancelled. This is a developing story, and more will be reported as it becomes available.

Sacred Heart edges St. Edmund in fourth-quarter nail-biter

By: REBECCA CHAISSON LSN Editor St. Edmund scored all 24 of its points in the fourth quarter Friday, but Sacred Heart delivered the final score with just 46 seconds remaining to claim a 27-24 victory over the Blue Jays.

Green Demons, Panthers fall in Week 6 games

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Mamou Green Demons were outscored 27-7 in the second half against Northwest as they went on to lose 45-21 at home last Thursday night. With the loss, Mamou fell to 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in district play.

New class proves to be tough task for BHS Bearcats

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - Eunice High School went into Bulldog Stadium with a 5-0 record. Less than two hours after kickoff, the Bobcats walked out of the stadium with a 6-0 record after earning a 49-6 win over the winless Ville Platte High Bulldogs.
