Rotary under quarantine

For the first time in many Americans’ lives, they are living under quarantine. One aspect of the quarantine is many civic organizations, like the Rotary Club of Ville Platte, are unable to gather together for their meetings to share what is going on in their lives.

Unfortunate

We all know how heartbreaking it has been for the senior high school athletes across the parish, as their season was mowed down by the pandemic of the Coronavirus. That heartbreak, however, knows no boundaries.

COVID numbers may be larger

In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced antibodies-testing of shoppers at 3,000 supermarkets revealed 13.9 percent of New Yorkers had been infected with COVID-19 but in New York City, that number shot to 21 percent.

Testing emotions

There is a new word in the COVID-19 pandemic for Ville Platte residents, Mayor Jennifer Vidrine and the Ville Platte City Council. The word is frustration.

Mercy Regional Medical Center COVID-19 update

VILLE PLATTE - Now that tests are readily available, Mercy Regional Medical Center (MRMC) is now providing a call center for COVID-19 scheduled drive-thru testing. As of Tuesday, April 21, Mercy will screen calls through the call center at 1-337-363-9475.

Schools to remain closed, EPSB makes online resources available

With the announcement by Governor John Bel Edwards that state schools will be closed for the remainder of the semester, new online resources for continuous learning in English/ Language Arts and Math are now being posted on the EPSB website for Evangeline parish students.
