Staff Report An escaped prisoner has been apprehended, according to a release from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office. Joseph Jermaine Charles walked away from the Evangeline Parish Jail while working on a clean-up detail crew as a trustee around 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.

Mamou police seek public’s assistance in drive-by shooting

On Tuesday, April 12, at approximately 4:40 p.m., officers with the Mamou Police Department were dispatched to the area of 500 3rd Street in reference to a drive-by shooting. Officers arrived on scene and secured the area. No injuries were reported.

Missing person is located

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office reported, on Wednesday, April 13, a missing person has been located. Martin Joseph Boone II, age 53, of Mamou, was reported missing on April 12.
