Police jurors tour new parish jail at Ward 1 Industrial Park

Members of the Evangeline Parish Police Jury, on Thursday, February 5, toured the new parish jail, which is being constructed in the Ward 1 Industrial Park. Before taking the tour, the jurors gathered for a photograph at the entrance sign to the park.

Chief A. Perry Thomas reports that at approximately 9:34 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the Dollar General on Tate Cove Road was robbed at gun point.

Searile is charged with crimes against juveniles

Rufus Anthony Searile has been booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $600 thousand bond. He is charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, two counts of forcible rape, and molestation of a juvenile. More information will be reported as it becomes available.
