By: TONY MARKS Editor The Chataignier Village Council, during its meeting held Monday, March 18, voted to adopt an ordinance that increases the salary for the chief of police from $600 per month to $1,500 per month.

Crime takes center stage at council meeting

By: NANCY DUPLECHAIN Staff Reporter Crime was one major topic of discussion at the March 12 meeting of the Ville Platte City Council. Councilwoman Anna Frank and Councilman Shawn Roy expressed condolences to the family of Andrew Thomas over his recent shooting death.

Fatal shooting is reported in Ville Platte near corner of Jackson and Chataignier

By: TONY MARKS Editor Ville Platte Police Chief Al Perry Thomas confirmed a fatal shooting in the city that claimed the life of 28-year-old Andrew Thomas. The shooting occurred on the morning of Thursday, March 7, near the intersection of North Chataignier Street and East Jackson Street.

On February 20,2024, while conducting criminal patrol in the town of Mamou, Narcotic Agents observed a vehicle traveling South on Railroad Ave fail to utilized turning signals on a left turn. Narcotic Agents conducted a vehicle stop.
