Sonnier is arrested for crimes against elderly

A suspect is in jail following alleged charges committed against an elderly victim. On March 12, 2024, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified of a theft of property in the L’Anse Aux Pailles Rd area of Chatagnier.

JSM is placed on lockdown

Staff Report James Stephens Montessori was placed on lockdown because of a shooting that occurred in the area around 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29. According to the Ville Platte Police Department, no one was injured.

Chicken thieves are in the coop

By: TONY MARKS Editor Two suspects are in custody and face theft of livestock and additional charges. On March 27, deputies responded to the 1000 block of Old Park Road, located in the unincorporated portion of Evangeline Parish, in reference to chickens being stolen from a secured chicken coop.
