Fontenot pens with LSU-E Softball

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - The reigning Evangeline Parish Co-MVP in softball is taking her skills to Eunice as Sacred Heart’s Amelia Fontenot signed to play softball at LSU Eunice. The signing came during a ceremony held at Sacred Heart on Wednesday, November 19.

Football contest winners are named

Winners of the Ville Platte Gazette’s football contests are announced. Claudia Ortego, with a record of 49-11, won the readers’ contest. Tammy Matte, with a record of 45-15, placed second; and Steven Vidrine placed third with a record of 41-17.

Third year of impactful LSHOF membership drive launches

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation has generated $85,000 over the past two years to support the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Museum through its “Join the TEAM” membership drive. First launched in 2023, Year Three of the membership drive began on November 1.

Southeastern Conference announces 2026-29 football opponents

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference on Tuesday announced the opponents and sites for SEC football games for the 2026 through 2029 seasons. The SEC announced in August it would play a nine-game conference schedule starting with the 2026 season.
