The Turkey Creek Village Council voted Tuesday to amend the previous budget and to adopt the budget for the next fiscal year beginning July 1.
An overview of both budgets shows a total revenue in the amounts of $763,850.00 in the amended budget and $763,350.00 in the new budget along with etotal expenditures in the amounts of $927,502.00 in the amended budget and $914,485.00 in the new budget.
Matters which were first discussed at last month’s meeting also reached an outcome during Tuesday’s meeting.
The council voted to amend its tampering/ unauthorized use of utilities penalty. Adam Janet explained the fine for the first occurrence will now be $200.00. He further explained the fine will increase to $400.00 each time thereafter. In addition, according to Janet, each violator would have to pay “the cost of repairs including parts and labor, and additionally they are subject to criminal prosecution by the district attorney’s office.”
The council also voted to adopt a resolution requiring any event held at the civic center or the ballpark to pay for an officer if it is serving alcohol. “This is to prevent us having property damage or different things being stolen,” Mayor Phillip Cavins said.
The mayor added, “If they are caught serving alcohol and they did not pay for an officer to be on duty, then their deposit will be terminated.”
Earlier in the meeting, the council heard from Jerrie Ledoux with Congressman Mike Johnson’s office. She stated she will be at the council’s meeting room on Thursday, June 27, from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. to meet with constituents who have issues with any federal agency such as veteran’s affairs, Social Security, and the IRS.
In other business, the council went into executive session to discuss employee performance.
