State senate approves revised budget

Cabot Corporate Foundation invests in SoLAcc’s Ville Platte campus with $30,000 scholarship grant

South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc) celebrated a $30,000 investment from the Cabot Corporate Foundation to support scholarships for students in Evangeline Parish during a check presentation held on Wednesday, May 14, at its Ville Platte Campus.

By: TONY MARKS Editor Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, on May 8, was elected as pope to succeed the late Pope Francis. It was a historic announcement because the new pontiff, who took the name Leo XIV, is the first American to sit on the seat of St. Peter.

Jobless rates are up, workforce steady in April

Tri-Parish unemployment rates in April were up and the workforce was nearly unchanged compared to a year ago, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The total workforce count in April was 68,046, up 210 or 0.3% from the April 2024 total for St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes.
