The Tri-Parish workforce dropped by 479 people or 0.7% in July compared to July 2024, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The workforce totaled 68,732 in July, down from 69,211 in July 2024. The Tri-Parish workforce counts by parish in July were: — St. Landry, 33,027, down 359 or 1.

Tournoi qualifying is set

Qualifying for the Louisiana Tournoi will be held Sunday, September 7, at the track, located at the Industrial Park. Sign up will begin at 1 p.m., and running will begin at 2 p.m. Those who qualify will run in the Tournoi on Sunday, October 12, against the top 10 finishers from last year.

Patient reunited with medics who saved her life

VILLE PLATTE - On Tuesday, August 26, a patient and her husband reunited with the Acadian Ambulance paramedic and EMT who saved her life earlier this year. The reunion was held at Acadian’s Ville Platte station, where the crew members were formally recognized for their quick actions and dedication.

Unrestrained teen is killed in crash

VILLE PLATTE – On August 27, shortly after 10 p.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 167 near Filly Lane in Evangeline Parish. The crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Brian Walker, of Ville Platte.
