By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE — Over a half century of service to the financial community of the parish came to a close as Floyd Soileau stepped down from The Evangeline Bank and Trust Company’s Board of Directors.

Fifth annual SH powerlifting invitational is held

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - Area schools competed in the fifth annual Sacred Heart Invitational, held Saturday, January 10. The Mamou Lady Green Demons (117 points) and the Sacred Heart Trojans (95 points) walked away with the top trophies as team champions of the event.

The President’s Honor List for the fall 2025 semester at McNeese State University has been announced. To be on the President’s Honor List, an undergraduate student must earn at least a 3.5 GPA or better while carrying at least 15 semester hours.

Deputy-involved shooting is investigated

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE — One person is dead following a deputy-involved shooting that occurred near the intersection of Ivy Lane and Homer Road, just east of the corporate limits of Ville Platte. The incident claimed the life of Dylan Savoie, 24.
