Former Queen Cotton to represent Rayne Frog Festival

RAYNE - A full slate of new Frog Festival royalty was named last weekend from a bevy of beauties, each receiving their crowns and banners as they will represent Rayne and the Frog Festival during the upcoming 2022-23 year.
March 26th’s pageantry began at 2 p.m. at the Rayne Civic Center with the crowning of the new 2022 Frog Festival Miss Tadpole, Mr. Tadpole, Frog Deb Queen, Junior Queen and Jr. Teen Queen, followed by the evening pageants when the Teen, Miss and Ms. Queens were named.
Selected to reign over the 50th anniversary annual Rayne Frog Festival on May 12-15 were Miss Queen Shelby McClay Rials, Teen Queen Alyssa Rae Theriot, Ms. Queen Summer Blanchard, Jr. Teen Queen Adelyn Grace Autin, Junior Queen Avein Elise Theriot, Deb Queen Kyndal Grace Bergeron, Miss Tadpole Paisley Darlene Sonnier and Mr. Tadpole McKade Barrett Stelly.
Emcee for the evening program was Cheryl Boudreaux, with judges including Shawn Reaux (reigning Mrs. Louisiana), Vickie Little and Amanda Menard.
Past Frog Festival royalty of all age groups were in attendance and acknowledged during introductions.
The reigning Miss Rayne Ella Cantrell was also in attendance with a special invitation for everyone to attend the 50th Anniversary Frog Festival in May, which will include four days of traditional and new events for the entire family.
Shelbi McClay Rials, the 22-year-old daughter of Regina Pate and TJ Campbell of Pine Prairie, will reign as queen of the 50th Anniversary Rayne Frog Festival in May. Crowning her successor was Abigail Fruge, last year’s honoree. Both Shelbi and Abigail were former Queen Cotton’s of the Louisiana Cotton Festival.
Shelbi is a senior at Northwestern State University majoring in child and family studies. She plans to spend the next year working in the school system as a teaching assistant and applying for a master’s program in marriage and family therapy. She is also an after-school care teacher at St. Mary’s and a sales associate at Brenda’s Clothing.
She was sponsored by her parents for the pageant representing The Boggy Bayou Festival.
Named First Maid was Kailey Blair Hollier, 19-year-old daughter of Sammy and Paula Hollier of Rayne. She was sponsored for the pageant by the City of Rayne as the outgoing Miss Rayne title holder. Kailey is a student of the Blue Cliff College Esthetician Program and plans to obtain an esthetician license and open her own business someday.
Amelia Claire Mickal was named Second Maid. She is the 19-year-old daughter of Tim and Colleen Mickal of Lafayette, and is a freshman at South Louisiana Community College majoring in sports broadcasting. She was sponsored for the pageant by Mickal & Associates of Lafayette.
Amelia was also awarded the gold tray as Miss Congeniality, an honor chosen by her fellow contestants.
Completing the Miss Queen contestants were Jenyth Dale Allen and Morgan Elaine Comeaux.
