Stage set for banner softball season

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor It’s shaping up to be a potential banner season for softball in Evangeline Parish. As of press time on Friday, March 8, each of the four teams in The Gazette’s immediate coverage area are boasting strong winning percentages.

It’s time you step foot into my truth triangle. Take a gander into my inner sanctum of thoughts. It’s scary, I know. Some of you may even be doing your best to tune me out as soon as you saw the phrase “truth triangle.” I understand.

By: TONY MARKS Editor PINE PRAIRIE - After winning its first four games of the season, the Sacred Heart baseball team went 1-3 in the Northwood - Shreveport Tournament with losses to Class 5-A schools Benton (10-1) and Parkway (10-0) and a win against Class 2-A school Winnfield (12-6).

Fairview Lady Panthers win 15th state title

By: TONY MARKS LSN Sports Editor HAMMOND - When the history of girls’ basketball is written in Louisiana, there will be an appendix listing all of the Fairview Lady Panthers’ 15 state championships. The latest entry in that appendix came on Friday, March 1, as the team defeated Hicks 81-78.
