Reeves’ girls earn state runner-up nod at track meet; others place

By: TONY MARKS LSN Sports Editor The Reeves Lady Raider track team took home the Class C state runner-up trophy on the first day of last week’s 2024 Ochsner LHSAA Track and Field Meet, which was held at LSU. Hope Cauthron placed third in girls 200m with a time of 28.

PPHS leads parish pack with 12 All-District picks

By: TONY MARKS Editor HOUMA - A five-run lead was not enough for the Sacred Heart baseball squad as Covenant Christian went on a merry-go-round ride that produced seven runs on only two singles in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Red River ends PPHS season

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor COUSHATTA – The 13th-seeded Pine Prairie Panthers baseball team had its season ended in the Regional round of the LHSAA Division III non-select playoffs by the No. 4 Red River Bulldogs in a two-game sweep.

‘Hotter than a pepper sprout’

By: TONY MARKS Editor Jackson Bruney, also known as Bruney, has signed to play baseball with LSUA. He is the son of Candice and Chad Bruney and has been a varsity player for four years at Sacred Heart. “I think it’s going to better me as a person,” Bruney said about signing to play college ball.

By: TONY MARKS Editor RESERVE - A season ago, the Sacred Heart softball team faced Riverside Academy in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs and fell 14-5. Riverside then went on to win its second consecutive state championship.
